Esch Road Beach Elopement | Erin + Andrew's Intimate Wedding and Pyramid Point Hike
Erin and Andrew wanted a small wedding celebration, and their Esch Road Beach elopement was everything they had hoped for.
We had a fairly empty beach, as moody weather loomed ahead, this group was happy to be out for the occasion.
Erin and Andrew gathered their family on Esch Road Beach for their intimate wedding on the Lake Michigan shoreline.
*Esch Road Beach is one of a handful of places that you can elope in the Sleeping Bear Sand Dunes.
All it cost to hold this elopement was a $150 permit.
While rain was in the forecast, we didn’t get more than a few drizzles and some beautifully moody clouds. The ceremony was quick, followed by everyone congratulating and hugging the newlyweds. The three of us then drove 30 minutes north through the Sleeping Bear Dunes up to Pyramid Point for a post ceremony hike.
It drizzled again on the way up to Pyramid Point but let up once we arrived and began our hike to the top. It was on the way up that Erin had mentioned, she envisioned this day as an adventure instead wedding when I remarked on their hiking boots. Hiking was something that they loved to do, why not incorporate a hike in on their elopement?
Erin and Andrew loved having their friends and family at Esch Road Beach; This adventure at Pyramid Point was a nice excursion for just the two of them.
The view from the top was hazy with moody clouds over the water, and bright green growth for us to climb through. We explored around the Pyramid Point lookout as long as we could. Until we made our way back to the parking lot so Erin and Andrew could get to dinner reservations that they made in Traverse City at Sorellina then head out into the Bay on the Nauti-Cat for sunset.
