From my very first call with Jen, I could tell we were going to get along great. It was like we were already long-time friends chatting about her and Jon’s future wedding on Mackinac Island. I was stoked to be the photographer to document this occasion.

When their wedding weekend finally came, I was on Mackinac Island the day before for a proposal, so we met up briefly so I could say hi and meet some of their wedding party too. I love when it works out that you don’t have to meet a stranger the day of your wedding. Although Jen, Jon and I didn’t feel like strangers at all. Instantly we were excitedly chatting away about our adventures these last few days and the plans for tomorrow.

The day of the wedding was beautiful. If you know Mackinac Island, you know that the island weather can be temperamental and likely windy. Although their day was perfect! It was partly cloudy with the sun peeking out here and there and minimal wind. As a photographer, I couldn’t have asked for better weather to photographs these two on Mackinac Island. The ceremony was beautiful, followed by their celebrations at Mission Point Resort overlooking the water. They shared drinks, food, deserts, and danced the night away. It was hard for me to leave, and I stayed up until the very last ferry left the island.
