Montezuma Costa Rica Elopement

This winter, Lindsey and Kyle invited their closest friends, and family to Montezuma, Costa Rica for a few days of travel based wedding activities. Island explorations, a snorkel trip, beach bonfires, and local Costa Rican meals as a group. This small group of Michigander’s enjoyed their Costa Rican explorations.

Even before their Montezuma Costa Rica elopement, Lindsey followed my photography journey since back when it was only a side gig. I was passionate but not making a living yet, and even back then, she said she always wanted me as her photographer. So when the day finally came for her and Kyle to plan their celebration, they had a feeling I’d be happy to travel for them.

Lindsey and Kyle made plans for an intimate beach wedding at Ylang Ylang Beach Resort in Montezuma Costa Rica.

I booked my flights, shared the cost of a room with one of her bridesmaids, then took their shuttle from San Jose to Montezuma. This location was already special to them, so it was fitting they came back, bringing their loved ones this time. With all of the guests being from Michigan (most in Traverse city), I fit right in to the wedding party.

A combination of photo and video content desired on this adventure, I was able to record some excursions, and b-roll before the wedding. The day of their celebration, I hybrid shot photo/video but primarily focused on photos. While it was a whirlwind of a destination wedding to document. I kept right up with the fast paced travel and enjoyed every minute of Lindsey and Kyle’s Montezuma Costa Rica elopement.

The pair even planned out a post wedding waterfall adventure, followed by the two of the jumping in fully dressed in the previous days’ wedding attire.
