Old Mission Peninsula Photographer | The Thang Family's Sunset Session
This was my first trip out to Old Mission Peninsula this season as a photographer.
Mission Point Lighthouse Beach has a spectacular dog friendly beach to explore. Quite honestly, it’s one of my favorite locations for sunset sessions. It was the perfect location for the Thang family and I’s yearly session so they could also include their pup, August. Our evening did not disappoint with our own private slice of a Michigan Lakeshore to explore on Old Mission Peninsula.
Originally I said to meet at 7:45pm for our 9:20 sunset, but we both arrived early and the lighting was already great so we got right to shooting 30 minutes before our planned time. The walk through the woods was dazzling with all the new green growth. It seems like our landscape burst into color overnight. The trees were full, yet a magical hint of sunlight shone through open patches of tree foliage.
The short trail through the forest opened up to reveal the lakeshore. The Grand Traverse Bay is incredible with how you can often see the nearby shorelines in the distance. Pair the view with an epic sunset, and that’s just what we got. The session went perfect, and just as we were getting the last of our photos, a cool front blew in from over the water ushering us back to our cars. We couldn’t have asked for a more perfect evening for our Old Mission Peninsula family session on the beach.
